Smt. Revathi Muthuswamy is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, renowned for her contributions to Bharatanatyam as a performer, teacher, guru, choreographer, and institution head. She founded the Srirangam Bharatha Natyalaya in 1973 in Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli, with the aim of promoting classical dance and Indian culture. Muthuswamy received her initial training from her mother, Smt. Alamelu Seetharaman, and later under Guru Shri. T.S. Chandrasekaran, who currently serves as the Chief Natyacharya of Srirangam Bharathanatyalaya. Throughout her illustrious career, Smt. Revathi Muthuswamy has remained dedicated to the traditions of Bharatanatyam while showcasing her individual talent through the creation of numerous dance dramas based on Indian mythology and legends. She has choreographed and produced 40 dance dramas, some of which received grants from the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram. Her troupe has successfully presented over 2000 programs across India and internationally in countries like Singapore and Malaysia. A notable achievement includes her outstanding dance serial "Pannum Bharathamum," comprising 111 episodes, broadcast on Doordharshan Pothigai T.V., all based on extensive research in Tamil literature. Smt. Revathi Muthuswamy is a recipient of several accolades, including the prestigious Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. She has also served as a Senate Member of Bharathidasan University and a member of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Annamalai University. Awards & Honours: Kalaimamani Award.
