Sriya Pokala is an emerging Bharatanatyam dancer, a classical Indian dance form. She is a dedicated disciple of Guru Eswary Sriram at Tatya Performing Arts. Pokala marked a significant milestone in her dance journey by performing her Arangetram, a debut solo performance, on June 19, 2021. Her talent was recognized in April 2019 when she secured the 3rd Prize in Group 2 of the American Natya Idol competition, organized by Soorya Performing Arts in St. Louis, Missouri. Beyond her performances, Sriya Pokala actively contributes to the community through dance. She has served as a Missouri State lead for "making a difference one step at a time" (also known as One Step Foundation USA), an organization that supports adaptive sports programs. In this role, she has organized and participated in various fundraising events, including an Arangetram fundraiser in June 2021, which raised $4000 for Dance Ability, and a virtual race in November 2020, raising $1110 for the same adaptive dance program. Her guru, Eswary Sriram, founded Tatya Performing Arts in 2013, with a mission to preserve and promote the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam. Eswary Sriram herself is an experienced dancer, choreographer, and teacher who trained under Guru Smt Indira Manickam and the legendary Guru Padmashri Adyar K Lakshman.
