Sulagna Ray Bhattacharjee is a noted and globally acclaimed Indian classical Odissi dancer and a prominent soloist of the present generation. She received her initial training in Odissi from Mrs. Dona Ganguly and further honed her skills under the tutelage of Guru Poushali Mukherjee, following the esteemed Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Gharana. An empanelled artiste with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Sulagna Ray Bhattacharjee has also earned a Gold Medal from the Chandigarh Board and Prayag Sangeet Samiti. She is a graded artiste for Doordarshan and EZCC. Throughout her career, Sulagna Ray Bhattacharjee has performed extensively across India at various prestigious dance and music festivals, including the Jhulana Utsav in Konark, Sankatmochan Sangeet Samaroh, Konark Festival, Haridas Samaroh, Triveni Mahotsav, Lucknow Mahotsav, Taj Mahotsav, and Pushkar Festival. Her international performances have taken her to countries such as China, Singapore, and Bangladesh. In November 2025, she presented a solo Odissi dance as the inaugural performance of the 564th Bharat Sanskriti Yatra concert at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata. Beyond her performing career, Sulagna Ray Bhattacharjee is dedicated to promoting Indian classical dance through education. She founded the Sulagna Academy Trust, a decade-old organization (as of April 2024) primarily focused on inspiring young students and promoting Indian classical dance. She also runs her own dance institute, Sulagna Academy. The Sulagna Academy Trust regularly organizes cultural events, such as the annual spring festival "Rangiye Diye Jao" in Howrah, which saw its fifth edition in April 2024 and featured performances by specially-abled children.
