Sunita Yogananda is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher whose passion for the art form began in her childhood in India. She received diligent training in Bharatanatyam from renowned gurus Smt Janaki Venkataraman and Karnataka Kalashri Prof. Uma Rao, the founder of Sri Lalithakala Academy, Center of Performing Arts, Mysore. Sunita Yogananda holds a master's degree in Bharatanatyam. Throughout her career, she has given numerous solo performances across India and is an auditioned artist for Bangalore Doordarshan, where she has performed leading roles in dance dramas. She has also conducted dance demonstrations at various institutions, aiming to educate students about the values of Bharatanatyam. After gaining experience teaching under the guidance of her gurus, Sunita Yogananda founded Kalakshiti, a school dedicated to nurturing new talent and promoting Indian classical dance. Kalakshiti, which teaches in the Kalakshetra style, was initially established in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later expanded its presence to the Austin, Texas area. Her students have garnered critical acclaim through their performances at various cultural events and local organizations.
