Dr. Suprava Mishra is a renowned Indian classical Odissi dancer, guru, choreographer, writer, and filmmaker, born on July 10, 1968, in Cuttack, Odisha. She began her Odissi training at the tender age of six, completing her 'Visharad' in 1987 and 'Alankar' (Masters) in 2004 from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. She further holds an M.Sc. in Physics, an MBA in Marketing, and a Doctorate in Dance from Akhil Bharatiya Gujarat Vidyapith, Veraval. Dr. Mishra received training under the tutelage of legendary gurus Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Shudhaker Sahu, from whom she imbibed both the technical finesse and spiritual depth of Odissi. As a performer, Dr. Mishra has graced numerous prestigious national and international platforms, including the Konark Festival (2015), Khajuraho Dance Festival (2020), Uttardha Mohotsav (2011, 2018), Uttaradhikar Festival (2019), and Jaipur Jathis Festival (2019). She is a graded artist of Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), with over 30 solo and group performances broadcast. In 1995, she founded the Aum Arts Dance Academy in Ahmedabad, dedicated to preserving and promoting Odissi dance. Beyond performance and teaching, Dr. Mishra is a prolific writer, having authored six books, including 'Bharatiya Nritya' and 'Odissi Nrutya aur Bharatiya Sanskruti' (Hindi), and 'Gujarat Ke Jal Mandiro Men Sanskritik Virasat'. She is also a filmmaker, with her short fiction film 'Shri Radha' nominated for the Jaipur International Film Festival 2026. Dr. Mishra is known for her innovative approach, combining tradition with creativity and exploring the connection between temple sculptures, literature, and classical dance.
