Sushma Kotireddy is a prominent Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher, currently serving as the Director of Ravindra Natya Nikethan in Nairobi, Kenya. She holds an M.A. degree in Bharatanatyam. Kotireddy is dedicated to preserving and propagating the classical dance form, training over 100 students in Bharatanatyam at her academy. She also extends her passion for dance to community service, volunteering at Children's Garden and Home, where she teaches Indian classical and folk dance to more than 40 orphaned children. Her commitment to the arts is further demonstrated by her role on the Executive Committee of the Kenya Music Festival. Sushma Kotireddy emphasizes the profound connection between rhythm, movement, and devotion in Bharatanatyam, viewing it as a living conversation. She often reflects on the challenges of replicating the traditional learning environment, particularly the scarcity of live Carnatic musicians in Kenya, which impacts the nuanced experience of the dance for her students.
