Swapnarani Sinha is an eminent Indian classical Odissi dancer, guru, and choreographer, known for her dedication to the art form and her significant contributions to its propagation. A devoted disciple of Padma Shri Guru Durga Charan Ranbir, she has also drawn inspiration from Guru Sushree Anita Singhdeo. Sinha is an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and a graded artist of Doordarshan. Her commitment to Odissi is further evidenced by her receipt of both Junior Fellowship and Senior Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for her work in the field of Odissi dance. In 2003, Swapnarani Sinha established Nrutya Nilaya, an Odissi dance institution based in Angul, Odisha, with a city operation in Bhubaneswar. The academy has grown substantially under her mentorship, currently training approximately 500 students. Her teaching legacy is notable, with many of her students achieving recognition as certified artists of Doordarshan and receiving scholarships from CCRT, New Delhi. Furthermore, her students have garnered prestigious accolades such as the champion trophy in the National Youth Festival, the Governor's Trophy, and the Chief Minister's Trophy. As a performer, Swapnarani Sinha has graced numerous stages both nationally and internationally, often performing alongside her guru, Shri Durga Charan Ranbir. Her performances include solo abhinaya pieces like "Radha Rani Sange Nache Murali Pani," choreographed by Durgacharan Ranbir, and Navarasa presentations based on episodes from the Ramayana. She is also a prolific choreographer, with notable productions and Odissi dance ballets such as Shaktirupa, Barsa Pranaya, Shiva – Sadakshara, Triveni, and Agni. Her group performances, including the Shiva Shatakshara Stotram, have been well-received. Sinha and her troupe have performed at esteemed festivals including the Konark Festival, Dhauli – Kalinga Mahotsav, Mukteswar Dance Festival, Mahakumbh, and the International Odissi Dance Festival. Beyond performing and teaching, Swapnarani Sinha is also an organizer of cultural events. Since 2011, she has been hosting the 'Satkosia Mahotsav' in Angul, a festival that celebrates both classical and folk dance and music.
