Swathi Kamakshi Ravi is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher with over fifteen years of performance experience. She performed her arangetram at the age of eleven and has received training from several senior gurus in both the Thanjavur and Kalakshetra styles. Her expertise extends beyond Bharatanatyam to include Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam, as well as other classical Indian and folk dance forms. Throughout her career, Swathi Kamakshi Ravi has performed in numerous cities across the United States, including Seattle, Washington D.C., Cleveland, San Jose, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles. In 2010, she and her troupe from Massachusetts presented a Bharatanatyam recital, a Thillana, at the "World on Stage - The 2010, Spring Dance Festival" in Stamford, Connecticut. She has also given lecture demonstrations at universities and organizations in Seattle. Beyond performing, Swathi Kamakshi Ravi is a prolific choreographer, having created dance dramas, classical, semi-classical, and folk dance pieces, for which she has received awards and accolades. Notably, she co-choreographed an ensemble with James Atkinson that blended Modern Dance, Ballet, and Bharatanatyam to depict a scene from the Ramayana. She is dedicated to teaching and sharing her knowledge of Indian dance forms with both children and adults, offering classes in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and folk dance from her base in Corvallis, Oregon.
