Tanuya Manichand is a Kathak dancer and teacher primarily known within the Surinamese community. She specializes in Kathak temple dance and is a co-founder of Eshna, an Indian dance and music group. To enhance her expertise as a dancer and Kathak instructor, Manichand undertook an advanced 'refreshment course' at the Dhwani Institute in New Delhi, India. She is actively involved with Stichting Art Laboratorium Suriname (ArtLab.sr), an organization where she conducts Kathak dance lessons in Paramaribo. Beyond her contributions to classical dance, Tanuya Manichand is also engaged in the performing arts as an actress and choreographer. Her work through Eshna and ArtLab.sr contributes to the promotion and teaching of Indian classical dance in Suriname.
