Thuva Anputhasan is the founder and artistic director of BharatamWin Dance Academy, a Bharatanatyam institution based in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in Bharatanatyam from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where she was recognized as one of the top students in her program and earned accolades for her competitive performances. Anputhasan's passion for Bharatanatyam began in early childhood, and she has dedicated her life to mastering and sharing this classical art form. Before moving to Canada, Thuva Anputhasan mentored numerous students in her home country, many of whom regularly participated in competitive Bharatanatyam performances. She has now been teaching Bharatanatyam in Windsor for over 20 years, establishing a strong community of students from diverse backgrounds. Under her guidance, several students have successfully completed the Bharatanatyam Grade Examinations conducted by the Tamil Isai Kalaamanram of Ontario, consistently achieving Distinction. Her first student to appear for these examinations did so in 2008, marking a significant milestone as the first candidate from Windsor and Essex County. Additionally, a number of her senior students have successfully completed their Arangetram, a debut solo performance that signifies a dancer's transition from student to performer. Thuva Anputhasan continues to inspire students through her teaching, choreography, and unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam. BharatamWin Dance Academy offers both in-person and online classes, welcoming students of all levels and ages.
