Uma Sakthi is a Bharatanatyam dancer with 36 years of experience, having performed on stage since 1984. She has given more than 200 performances throughout her career. Uma Sakthi is a foremost disciple of Kalaimamani Smt. Ranganayaki Jayaraman, under whom she began her training at the age of four and performed her arangetram at the age of 10. Her performances have taken her internationally to Sydney, Australia, and within the USA to Albany, NY, and Charlotte, NC. A notable highlight of her career includes a seven-day performance of "Kanda Puranam" in Sri Lanka, which was highly appreciated and conducted under the guidance of Sri. Muthikrishna Swamigal. As an educator, Uma Sakthi has trained over 50 students for their Arangetram in India and established a significant presence in Sydney, Australia, where she taught approximately 40 students in less than a year. She is the founder and leader of Sri Saraswathi Nrithya Nilayam, a dance institution based in Charlotte, NC, which has been in business for 16 years.
