Upasana Chakraborty is a dedicated Odissi dancer and performer who commenced her journey in Indian classical dance at the tender age of three. Her training adheres to the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara, deeply rooted in the esteemed Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Gharana. She has earned a Visharad degree in Odissi and has also explored Indian folk and Bollywood dance forms. Her early talent was recognized through performances on various Indian television channels, including the iconic dance show Boogie Woogie. With over two decades of experience, Upasana has graced numerous stages across India. While she has explored diverse Indian movement languages, Odissi remains her profound passion, which she perceives not merely as a performance but as "meditation in motion" and a pathway to presence, grounding, and inner joy. Currently based in Switzerland, she is committed to introducing this rich classical tradition to new audiences. Through performances, classes, lectures, and workshops, she aims to inspire individuals of all ages to discover the joy of connecting with their bodies through dance. Her approach blends discipline with devotion, making classical dance both accessible and deeply fulfilling. Upasana also pursues a dual path, combining her artistic endeavors with a professional career in science. She holds a Master's degree from ETH Zurich and works in the telecom sector, where she architects complex, intelligent systems, finding a unique intersection between the precision of engineering and the profound presence demanded by her art. She leads "Nrtyopasana," her platform for Odissi in Switzerland.
