🪔 About

Vaasanthi Ravi is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Kuchipudi. She is a disciple of M.V.N. Murthy and Kalpana Srinivas, both associated with the Kuchipudi Arts Academy in Chennai. Her performances include traditional Kuchipudi pieces, such as an invocation to Lord Vishnu with 'Vande Vasudevam' and 'Neela mega sareera'. She has performed the Balagopala Tharangam of Narayana Tirtha, which was choreographed by the legendary Guru Vempatti Chinna Satyam. Vaasanthi Ravi has also depicted the childhood pranks of Krishna, alternating between the roles of Yashoda and Balakrishna. Her recitals often feature the challenging brass-plate piece, a hallmark of Kuchipudi. She has also performed the Mandooka Sabdam, choreographed by the late Vempatti Chinna Satyam, depicting the story of Gajendra, and a brisk tillana in Dhanasree, choreographed by Vempatti Ravishankar.
