Dr. Vasanth Kiran is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer, Nattuvanar, and academic, renowned for his expertise in both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. Born in Andhra Pradesh, India, his early inclination towards dance led him to begin his training at a young age in Hubli, Karnataka. He received extensive training in Kuchipudi from stalwarts such as Padmabhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, Vempatti Ravi Shankar, Guru Manju Barggavee, and Guru Dr. Vedantam Ramalinga Sastry. For Bharatanatyam, he trained under Mandakini Udupi. Dr. Kiran is a versatile artist who has performed in over 35 countries, showcasing the depth and beauty of Indian classical dance. He is also a prolific choreographer, having created over 100 original dance compositions for both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, many of which have been released on CD. His acclaimed dance dramas, including 'Ardhasaankaram', 'Panchaarama Kshetram', and 'Nava Shakti', have been presented at prestigious festivals such as Khajuraho, Vedavyasa, Hampi, and Mysore Dasara. He is also recognized for his intricate choreographies and Nattuvangam. Beyond his performing career, Dr. Vasanth Kiran has made significant contributions to dance education and academia. He has held positions as the Head of Department and Director of Performing Arts at various universities, including Alliance University and REVA University, where he integrated arts with management to inspire new generations of performers. He holds multiple academic degrees, including a Ph.D. in Management and gold medals in dance studies, and also holds a double doctorate in Marketing and Classical Dance. He is the director of Natyanidhi Institute of Performing Arts and has founded Bharata Kala Grama, a residential Gurukulam in Bangarpet, Kolar, Karnataka, which provides rigorous and holistic training in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, including free training for underprivileged students. He has also served as a visiting professor in India, Germany, and France, and is a nominated member of the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy.
