Vidhun Kumar is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer from Kerala, India, who adeptly balances a demanding career as a software engineer with his profound passion for classical dance. Born in 1993, he embarked on his artistic journey in Bharatanatyam at the tender age of four or five, displaying an innate talent for the art form from a young age. His early training exposed him to various dance styles, including Kuchipudi, folk dance, and Ottamthullal, in which he also garnered accolades during prestigious youth festivals. However, as he progressed, he made the conscious decision to focus predominantly on Bharatanatyam, dedicating his efforts to mastering the intricacies and expressive depth of this classical form. Kumar pursued his engineering studies concurrently with his rigorous dance training, a testament to his unwavering commitment to both disciplines. His student years were marked by significant artistic achievements, including winning the Kalapratibha award in 2010 and subsequently the prestigious M.G. University Kalaprathibha title in 2013. Further solidifying his reputation, he secured the first position at the South Zone University Fest in 2012. His dedication to dance has also been recognized through central government scholarships, which have supported his artistic endeavors. Currently based in Thiruvananthapuram, where he maintains his profession as an IT professional at Technopark, Vidhun Kumar continues to refine his craft under the tutelage of his guru, Mythili, with whom he has also collaborated on various artistic projects. He is also mentioned as having trained under Girija Chandran. He travels extensively across India, captivating audiences with his Bharatanatyam performances and earning praise for his "finely chiselled, full bodied" presentations. Kumar openly acknowledges renowned male Bharatanatyam dancer Parshwanath Upadhye as a significant source of inspiration.
