Vidyagauri Adkar is an accomplished Indian Kathak dancer, recognized for her representation of the Jaipur Gharana. Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, she commenced her initial dance training in Borivali, Mumbai, and Pune during her school and college years. She later relocated to Delhi for her higher education. Adkar is a disciple of the esteemed Kathak exponent Pt. Rajendra Gangani. Her career as a performer has seen her grace numerous stages across India and in South Africa. She has been a featured artist at several prominent music and dance festivals, including the Khajuraho Festival of Dances, where she performed in 2014. Other notable appearances include the Chilanka Dance Festival in Thiruvananthapuram, where she presented a Kathak duet with Mujaffar Mullah in 2015, and the Festival of Dance and Music in Delhi. She also performed at the 2012 Kathak Mahotsava in Delhi and the World Dance Day celebration in New Delhi in 2018, an event curated by Geeta Chandran. Additionally, Adkar has performed at the Kathak Prabha – Festival of India in South Africa and the Thirunagai Natyanjali Festival in 2016. Vidyagauri Adkar is recognized for her contributions to the preservation and promotion of Kathak, including training new generations of dancers. She is noted for her technique, pace, and nritta (pure dance) in her performances.
