Vidyashree Radhakrishna is a distinguished Bharatanatyam artist, teacher, choreographer, and institution head, widely recognized for her contributions to Indian classical dance. Her journey in Bharatanatyam began at the tender age of five, initiated by her mother, Smt. Jayalakshmi. She further honed her artistic skills under the tutelage of esteemed gurus such as Smt. Nalini Bypaditya and Dr. Sita Kote. Vidyashree also attended workshops conducted by Guru Padma Subramaniam and the revered winter workshop at Kalakshetra, Chennai. Additionally, she has undergone training with luminaries like Guru Bragha Bessell and Adyar K. Lakshman. As a performer, Vidyashree Radhakrishna has graced over a thousand stages across India and internationally, including festivals in the UK and South Korea. She is a graded artist of Bangalore Doordarshan and an empaneled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Her choreographic works encompass numerous solo, group, and thematic productions, and she is known for her unique and creative explorations within the classical framework of Bharatanatyam. Beyond performance and choreography, Vidyashree is a trained Carnatic vocalist and a profound Nattuvanar. In 1994, Vidyashree founded the Gaana Nritya Academy with the mission to preserve and promote Indian classical music and dance, inspiring youth in both rural and urban Karnataka. The academy, based in Mangaluru, has grown significantly, celebrating its silver jubilee in 2020. Through her academy, she has nurtured over 5000 students and facilitated more than 13 Rangapraveshas. She has also directed and produced a DVD titled 'Nrithyaksharam' and actively conducts seminars and lecture demonstrations on various aspects of Bharatanatyam. Her research includes a collaborative work titled 'Judeo Christian Worldview through the looking glass of Bharatanatyam' with Ruth Prithika.
