Vinay Tiwari is a multifaceted Bharatanatyam artist, teacher, choreographer, interviewer, and dance photographer hailing from Salempur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, and primarily based in New Delhi. He commenced his Bharatanatyam training at the Bhatkhande Music Institute – Deemed University in Lucknow, where he earned a Diploma in Bharatanatyam and a Visharad diploma in Indian folk dances. His artistic journey was profoundly influenced after witnessing performances by Padma Bhushan Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Vidushi Rama Vaidyanathan. In 2016, Tiwari began distance learning with Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan at Ganesa Natyalaya Classical Art Center in Delhi, and by 2018, he moved to Delhi for higher education in Bharatanatyam, continuing his training under Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan in the Guru-Shishya Parampara. He is noted as the seventh male student to train under Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan in her extensive career and performed his Arangetram under her guidance, which marked her 300th such debut. He has also trained under Vidushi Rama Vaidyanathan. Academically, Tiwari holds Master's degrees in both Sociology and Bharatanatyam. His sociological background has significantly informed his artistic endeavors, particularly his commitment to integrating Bhojpuri language, culture, and traditions into Indian classical dance. This vision culminated in his debut solo production, 'Abhadra,' which is recognized as the world's first full-length Bharatanatyam production presented entirely in Bhojpuri. He is a graded artist from Doordarshan and the first from his district to achieve this grade in Bharatanatyam. As a performer, Tiwari has graced numerous national and international dance festivals, including the World Culture Festival, Khajuraho Dance Festival, and Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsava. He holds a world record for 'Shivaargya,' the world's largest all-male classical dance relay. Beyond performing, he is a dedicated teacher, having taught Bharatanatyam since 2012 and serving as a guest teacher at institutions like IGNOU and the National School of Drama, Varanasi. He is also the owner of Aesthetic Dance Studio. His work extends to dance photography and interviewing legendary artists for his YouTube series, 'Personalities through one lens with Vinay Tiwari,' where he has featured figures such as Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Raja and Radha Reddy, Meenakshi Seshadri, Madhavi Mudgal, and Vanashree Rao.
