🪔 About
Vinduja Menon is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and teacher, primarily known for her work in Mohiniyattam, and also a former Malayalam film actress. Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, she received her initial training in Indian classical dance and music from her mother, Kalamandalam Vimala Menon, a renowned Mohiniyattam exponent and the founder of Kerala Natya Academy. Menon demonstrated her talent from a young age, winning numerous awards in dance and music competitions during her school days. A significant early achievement was being crowned "Kalathilakam" at the Kerala State School Youth Festival in 1991, becoming the first artist from Thiruvananthapuram to receive this honor. She pursued higher education at NSS College for Women in Karamana and later earned a master's degree from Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram. She has also been conferred a doctorate from Madurai Kamaraj University. While she had a notable career in Malayalam cinema from 1985 to 1999, with her role as Mohanlal's sister in the 1994 film 'Pavithram' being particularly recognized, dance has remained her passion and priority. Currently, Vinduja Menon is actively involved in teaching and performing classical dance. She runs her own dance school in Malaysia, where she is settled with her family, and also serves as a part-time teacher at her mother's prestigious institution, the Kerala Natya Academy in Thiruvananthapuram. She continues to perform classical dance globally. Awards & Honours: Kalathilakam (1991).
