Vishwakant Singha is a contemporary Indian dancer and choreographer based in Delhi. His formal training in modern choreography commenced in 1979 under the tutelage of Shri Narendra Sharma at the Bhoomika Creative Dance Center, Delhi. Singha quickly rose to become a ballet master within the troupe, performing as a soloist in numerous significant productions. His extensive career has seen him undertake national and international tours, performing in countries including Japan, Bangkok, Sri Lanka, the USSR (1983), Czechoslovakia, Slovakia, Italy, Paris, Australia (1987-88), Germany (1991), Greece (1995), Finland (1997), Portugal (1997), Hong Kong (1992), the UK (1992), the USA (1992), and Canada (1992). As a choreographer, Singha has created several notable ballets, such as "The Green Room" and "Life in the Portrait," both presented in New Delhi in 1986, and "Dhwani Gati" in 1990. He also played a crucial role in assisting Shri Narendra Sharma with the choreography for major national events, including the opening ceremonies of the 9th Asian Games, Apna Utsav in 1987, and events for the Festival of India in Moscow, USSR. His international recognition extends to his participation as an international choreographer in the American Dance Festival in 1990 and his selection for the International Visitor Program of the United States Information Agency (USIA). Beyond his performance and choreography, Singha has contributed to dance education by conducting numerous workshops on body movement for actors and for individuals undergoing rehabilitation. He has also studied and trained in the classical Indian dance forms of Chhau, Kuchipudi, and Kathak. More recently, his choreography works include pieces for educational institutions like Amity International School (2016) and DAV School, Shresth Vihar (2014).
