Vrata Chigateri is a Kuchipudi artist based in Yorkshire, UK, specializing in the classical Indian dance form that originates from Andhra Pradesh, India. She commenced her extensive training in Kuchipudi in 1996 under the tutelage of Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi. Throughout her career, Vrata has performed widely, including touring in India with her guru as a performing artist and appearing on national television. Currently, she is active as a Kuchipudi teacher and choreographer. In 2020, Vrata collaborated with Seetal Kaur for the SHAKTI: The Woman concert as part of the LEAP 2020 festival, where she contributed choreography and music arrangements to a performance honoring divine female figures in Indian mythology. More recently, in May 2023, she performed a Kuchipudi rendition at the RadhaRaman International Dance Festival held at Leeds Civic Hall. Her dedication to teaching is evident through her students, who have also performed Kuchipudi group dances, as seen in a February 2024 YouTube video featuring their performance.
