Born into a Deccani Muslim family, she initially harbored dreams of becoming a doctor. However, circumstances led her to pursue her passion for dance. She and her sister received extensive training in Bharatanatyam in Chennai from a young age. Her mother encouraged her to learn dance, partly to help manage her asthma.
