Yumlembam Theba Devi is a respected figure in Indian classical dance, specializing in the Manipuri style. Based in Imphal, India, she is also currently serving as the Director of Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, demonstrating her significant contributions and leadership in the field of Indian classical dance. Her work with the Sangeet Natak Akademi further highlights her extensive involvement and influence in promoting and preserving Indian classical dance forms. As a performer, Yumlembam Theba Devi has showcased her talent at various prestigious events. In 2023, she performed in the Classical Manipuri Solo Dance festival organized by the Manipur State Kala Akademi. The same year, she presented a lyrical performance of 'Radha Krishna Nartan' in a Manipuri duet with Kheersana Yumlembam at the 16th Guru Debaprasad Nrutya Parampara Festival. This performance beautifully brought out the Bhakti rasa of the Rasaleela, depicting the eternal love between Radha and Krishna through enchanting movements and authentic Manipuri music. Her dedication and artistic prowess have been recognized with several accolades. She was awarded the Manipur State Kala Akademi Scholarship Award for the year 2016-17 in the field of Creative Dance. She is also a recipient of the Shrimati Usha Devi Gold Medal and the Governor's Gold Medal, both from Manipur University's Department of Dance and Music and School of Humanity, respectively. Furthermore, Yumlembam Theba Devi received the Young Talent Scholarship under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for the year 2019-2020, underscoring her promising talent and potential in the classical dance arena.
