Journey Timeline
Early 1960s
Began Bharatanatyam training at Kalakshetra — Studied under Rukmini Devi Arundale in Chennai, India.
1967
Graduated from Kalakshetra — Became the first person from Singapore to graduate from the institution.
1967-1977
Taught and performed in Singapore — Spent a decade teaching classical Indian dance and performing on local radio and television.
1983
Moved to Perth, Australia — Moved with her husband, Sri Raman Kuppusamy.
1983
Established Kalaivani School of Indian Classical Arts — Founded the first Indian classical dance school in Western Australia.
1983
Co-founded North Perth Ethnic Music Centre — The centre was later known as Kulcha.
1984
Began weekly dance and music classes in Perth — Started conducting classes in Indian folk and classical dance, and South Indian music.
2015
Received Lifetime Achievement Award from Apsara Arts — Bestowed with the title 'Natya Aachaarya Mani' in Singapore.
