Journey Timeline
1983
Pursued post-professional training in India — Studied dance and nattuvangam at Bharatha Choodamani Academy of Fine Arts under Guru Adyar K. Lakshman.
1985
Moved to Germany and toured as a professional dance artist
1986
Established her own professional Bharatanatyam training school in Germany — Opened on January 22nd.
1993
Published first book, "Bharatha Muthirai" — A book of dance theory from grade one to seven.
1993
Moved to Canada and opened Laya Bhava Dance Academy — Established the Canadian branch of her school.
1997
Published second book, "Bharatha Natyam" — A book consisting of adavus with her own illustrations.
1999
Choreographed numerous productions and toured with her group — Tours included Europe and USA.
2011
Co-founded Sahana Dance Company — Aimed at providing opportunities for Tamil Bharatanatyam artists.
2012
Received Dance Professional Grant — Awarded by the Canada Council for the Arts.
2013
Laya Bhava Dance Academy received Ontario Arts Council dance training grant — For the summer professional training program.
