Journey Timeline
1993
First visit to India and inspiration to learn Bharatanatyam — At 19, she saw Alarmel Valli perform Bharatanatyam at the Khajuraho Dance Festival, which changed her life.
1994-2000
Training in Indian classical dance and martial arts — Trained in Bharatanatyam at Kalakshetra under Meena Raman for six years, Kathakali at Kerala Kalamandalam and Margi, and Kalaripayattu.
2000
Founded her own dance theatre company and began teaching in Spain — Established her dance theatre company and started teaching Indian classical performing arts techniques in Spain.
2001
Co-founded Casa de la India — Moved back to Spain and, with Guillermo Rodriguez Martin, started Casa de la India in Valladolid.
2008
Compañía Mónica de la Fuente created — Her dance company was formally created as Compañía Mónica de la Fuente.
2015
Artistic coordinator for 'Flamenco India' — Served as artistic coordinator, choreographer, and performer in 'Flamenco India' directed by Carlos Saura.
