Kalapeetham offers instruction in Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance) in the Kalakshetra style and tradition for both children and adults. Smt. Kalyani Shanmugarajah established the school in 1990, initially as Shiva Jyothi School of Dance, and it was renamed Kalapeetham in 1996. The institution aims to inspire artistic excellence while preserving the Kalakshetra standards established by Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale.
