Swarna Kala Mandir (SKM) is an Indian Performing Arts company based in Singapore, established in 2018 with the vision of promoting the rich heritage of Indian classical dance and music. SKM offers structured training in Bharatanatyam and Kathak, with branches located in Yishun and Choa Chu Kang. Within just a few years, the academy has grown to nurture over 100 students, ranging from beginners to advanced-level dancers. Training at SKM is rooted in a comprehensive syllabus that emphasizes both practical excellence and theoretical knowledge, ensuring a holistic understanding of the art forms. Students of SKM regularly participate in competitions, consistently earning awards and recognition. The school is also committed to inclusivity, offering scholarships to talented students from low-income families, supporting their pursuit of classical dance. SKM’s dancers have showcased their talent at prestigious platforms across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and India, including performances at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre for Kala Utsavam 2022 and the Esplanade Concourse in 2024 and 2025. Three senior students have successfully presented their Arangetrams, marking important milestones in their artistic journey. In addition to regular training, SKM is known for its original dance productions: “Dhaara – The Divine Rainfall” (2019) at Gateway Black Box, featuring live music. “Shanmatham – Six Paths to Divinity” (2023) at Alliance Française. Swarna Kala Mandir continues to inspire and empower the next generation of classical dancers, upholding tradition while nurturing creativity and excellence.
