Meaning

Sadir, or Sadirattam, is the name of the temple and court dance of Tamil Nadu before it was renamed Bharatanatyam in the 1930s. Its repertoire was shaped by the Tanjore Quartet and kept alive by hereditary devadasi dancers and their nattuvanar teachers.
