Meaning
The Tanjore Quartet were four brothers — Chinnayya, Ponnayya, Sivanandam and Vadivelu — who served at the court of Serfoji II in Thanjavur in the early nineteenth century. They codified the adavus and set the order of items that became the margam, composing many of its pieces.
