Archana Joglekar is a celebrated Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and actress, primarily known for her expertise in Kathak. Born on January 4, 1965, she was trained extensively in Kathak from a young age by her mother and guru, Asha Joglekar, a renowned Kathak danseuse and instructor. Her training encompassed the detailed nuances of the Lucknow, Jaipur, and Banaras Gharanas. She further honed her craft under the guidance of esteemed gurus such as Late Pandit Gopikrishna, Late Pandita Rohini Bhate, Maharaj Krishna Kumar, Late Pandit Tirthram Azad, and Pandit Birju Maharaj. Joglekar also received ten years of extensive training in Odissi from Late Padmavibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Shankar Behra. In 1963, her mother, Asha Joglekar, founded the Archana Nrityalaya dance school in Mumbai, India. Archana Joglekar continued this legacy by opening a branch of Archana Nrityalaya in New Jersey, USA, in 1999, where she serves as the Founder-Director. She also directs Archana Nrityalaya in India. She has been teaching Kathak for over 35 years and has established the SAMVED EXAM BOARD for Indian classical art forms across North America.
