🪔 About
Avika Bassi is an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer from India. She began her training at the age of six and, by 2019, had been dancing for eleven years. She is a disciple of the renowned Kuchipudi gurus Drs. Raja-Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. At 17 years old, Avika delivered a two-hour-long solo Kuchipudi recital at Kamani Auditorium in Delhi, presented by Natya Tarangini. Her performance included a diverse repertoire, starting with an invocation (Ganesh Vandana), followed by a pure nritta piece called Maan, Krishna Shabdam, Dashavatara (depicting the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu), Sanson ki Mala (a Sufi and Hindu piece in Hindi), and concluding with Tarangam, where she performed while standing on a brass plate. Her mother inspired her to pursue Kuchipudi. In addition to her dance pursuits, Avika Bassi was also a Thakur Foundation Scholar for the academic year 2021-22 at Ashoka University, a scholarship established for women in science. Awards & Honours: Thakur Foundation Scholar (2021).
