Bhagavathula Yagna Narayana Sarma is a revered figure in Indian classical dance, particularly known for his contributions to Kuchipudi. Hailing from the village of Kuchipudi itself, the traditional home of the dance form, he is recognized as a prominent exponent and guru. In 2010, he was felicitated as a septuagenarian dance exponent on World Dance Day at the GVR Government College of Music and Dance in Vijayawada, an event that also featured performances by students of Hamsadhvani Kuchipudi Natyalaya. Sarma has received accolades from high-ranking officials, including the President of India and Ambassadors, for his captivating performances. His dedication to Kuchipudi dance was recognized with the "THAGUR RATNA PURASKAR". He has trained numerous students, passing on the rich tradition of Kuchipudi. Among his notable disciples are his sons, Bhagavathula Venkata Rama Sarma and Bhagavathula Srinivasa Sarma, both of whom have continued his legacy in the dance form. Another prominent student is Hemamalini Yaddanapudi, who learned her first Kuchipudi item from him at the age of seven and later earned diplomas in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam under his tutelage.
