Hemamalini Yaddanapudi is an internationally reputed Kuchipudi dancer, teacher, director, and choreographer. She is the founder and Artistic Director of the Lasyam School of Kuchipudi Dance, established in 2000 in Aurora, Illinois, USA [2, 3]. Yaddanapudi began her dance training at the age of seven and is a disciple of renowned Kuchipudi maestros Bhagavathula Yagna Narayana Sarma and Bhagavathula Venkata Rama Sarma, both hailing from the village of Kuchipudi [1, 2]. By the age of 15, she had earned diplomas in both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam [2]. She further pursued her education in dance, attending the Central University of Hyderabad for a Masters of Performing Arts program in Kuchipudi [2]. Throughout her career, Hemamalini Yaddanapudi has performed on national television and at various dance festivals [1]. She is recognized for her excellence in choreographing dance ballets, including a groundbreaking sequence for the opening dance ballet of the American Telugu Association's 8th World Conference in Chicago in July 2004 [1]. Her work is characterized by a unique skill in blending classical mime with folklore [1]. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Yaddanapudi is also a trained lawyer, having been elected as a Judge in Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1998. She later earned a Masters of Law degree from Texas Tech University in 2016 and currently works for a non-profit legal aid organization in DuPage County [2].
