Bhumika Poddar is an emerging Indian classical dancer specializing in Odissi, who also has a background in Kathak and hip-hop. She began her dance journey at the age of three and a half. Her formal training in Kathak commenced at the age of 10 in Muscat, under the tutelage of Guru Gouri Gokhale. Following her Kathak training, she transitioned to Odissi, learning under Guru Aishwarya Hegde at Deepam Odissi Academy in Muscat. She has also received guidance from Guru Deepak Roy, who encouraged her artistic development. Poddar has been actively learning and performing Odissi for over a decade. Throughout her career, Bhumika Poddar has showcased her talent at various prestigious events. Her performances include 'Gunjan 2014' at Al Bustan Palace Muscat with Deepam Odissi Academy, Deepam Online Recital 2021, ITEC Day Indian Embassy 2021, Republic Day Indian Embassy 2022, and Muscat Masala Indian Embassy in March 2023. She was welcomed at the Biswa Odissi Utsav-2021, where she stated she was 14 years old at the time. Poddar has also participated in workshops, including one led by Shakti Mohan. Her achievements include winning first place in the Kings United International Dance competition in 2020. She is also recognized as the winner of an International Odissi Dance competition held by the All India Cultural Society and another International dance competition organized by Kings United. Beyond classical forms, she has pursued a hip-hop diploma from Kings United India, training under dancers such as Mohit Yadav, Nisha Bhagat, and Rakesh Pal. Bhumika Poddar continues to be committed to her dance, exploring and enriching her passion for the art form.
