Bidisha Kalita is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer who began her training at the age of seven under the tutelage of Late Guru Raghunath Dutta. She furthered her expertise by learning both the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Gharana and Guru Debaprasad Das Gharana styles of Odissi. Kalita has also trained under the guidance of Anjana Moyee Saikia, a prominent Odissi dancer and the founder-director of Darpan Dance Academy in Guwahati. Throughout her career, Bidisha Kalita has performed extensively both within India and internationally. At the age of seventeen, she had the opportunity to perform in Malaysia, and within two years, she graced stages in Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and Bahrain. She has been a performer with the Darpan Dance Academy, participating in events such as the "Nritya Nirjara" festival in Guwahati, where she performed alongside fellow dancers Roopchanda Sarma, Rimpi Nath, and Shaivi Shiv. Beyond her contributions to classical dance, Kalita is also an actor in the Odia industry. Her artistic achievements have been recognized with several accolades, including the "Deba Smruti Samman," the Padmsree Sanjukta Panigrahi Award for artistic achievement in Odissi Dance, and the "Mahodadhi Smarak Samman" presented by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of India at the Puri Beach Festival. She has also received the Nritya Bhusan award from the International Dramatic Association, Orissa. Additionally, Kalita has been honored with a certification from Her Excellency Ms. Eulina Brocks, Mayor of the City of Denton, Texas, USA, and a Certificate for Honorary Citizenship of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, from His Excellency Mr. Bill LaFortune, Mayor, City of Tulsa, Oklahoma, for her highly appreciated Odissi dance performance.
