Dr. Swati Agarwal is a distinguished Kathak dancer and guru from Jaipur, India, known for her dedication to the ancient classical dance form. Her passion for dance began at the age of six, leading her to train under the esteemed Kathak guru Pt. Girdhari Maharaj of the Jaipur gharana. She holds advanced degrees in Kathak Dance, including an Alankar (M.A.) from Gandharva University and a Nipun (M.A.) from Rajasthan Sangeet Sansthan. Dr. Agarwal is a co-founder of the Agarwal Education, Cultural and Welfare Society, a non-profit organization committed to promoting and preserving Indian classical arts. Through this society, she annually organizes and co-curates the Nrityam Dance Festival on World Dance Day, showcasing leading figures in Indian classical dance. Her career as a performer includes being an approved 'B' grade artist of Doordarshan and a member of the International Organization of Folk Art "IOV" since 2010. She has performed internationally, including a visit to Japan in 2000 as part of the International Institute of Perfect Arts (I.I.P.A.) and participation in the "Dubai Festival" in 2003. Notably, she also appeared in the international film "Little Buddha," directed by the eight-time Oscar winner Bernardo Bertolucci. Beyond performing, Dr. Swati Agarwal is recognized as a gifted dance choreographer. In 2004, Dr. Agarwal established the Indian Institute of Kathak Dance and Music (IIKDM) in Jaipur, where she nurtures a new generation of Kathak dancers. The institute is affiliated with Pracheen Kala Kendra. She is actively involved in supporting organizations dedicated to the protection and education of children in India.
