🪔 About
Ganesh Vasudeva is a Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer known for his innovative works and performances in India, France, London, and the United States. He began his Bharatanatyam training in 1986 at the age of ten in India, under Guru Chandrashekhara Navada, who instilled in him a love for performing. Vasudeva moved to California by 2003, where he continued his advanced training and was mentored by Guru Shreelata Suresh starting in 2009. He also received significant guidance in abhinaya (miming/emoting) from Guru Bragha Bessel of Chennai, India, since 2009. Further enriching his artistry, Vasudeva trained rigorously under Guru A. Lakshmanaswamy in Chennai from October 2017 to April 2018, focusing on nritta, abhinaya, and choreography. He has also been instructed by Apporva Jayaraman and has studied Carnatic music for six years, which is integral to Bharatanatyam. Vasudeva views dance as an all-encompassing form that connects him to the past, present, and future of the art form, driving his exploration of its origins, evolution, and adaptation to contemporary storytelling. He is particularly noted for conceptualizing and choreographing original works, including "Bharata, The Quintessential Male Dancer" and the critically acclaimed "Life of Pi" Bharatanatyam concert.
