Geetha Sridhar is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, performer, tutor, and choreographer with a career spanning over 30 years. She received her traditional Bharatanatyam training at the renowned Kalakshetra School of art and dance in India. Following her foundational training, she worked for seven years with Chandralekha's dance company, a pioneer in contemporary Indian dance, performing in diverse projects and abstract themes such as 'Lilavati' and 'Shree'. Geetha Sridhar moved to the UK in 1992 and has since established herself as a prominent figure in Indian classical dance in the region. She holds a Masters degree in Dance Training and Education from the University of Kent and is a lecturer at Kingston and Chichester Universities, where she teaches various modules on the Dance undergraduate course. Geetha Sridhar is a qualified dance teacher with over 20 years of experience, offering private lessons and group classes following the Kalakshetra method. She has also devised her own syllabus for the London School of Carnatic Music. Geetha Sridhar is the founder of the Natyasri dance company, through which she nurtures young talent to a professional level. She is known for her innovative choreographic works that blend conventional Bharatanatyam with contemporary touches, incorporating disciplines like yoga, Kalari, and freestyle movements. She is currently the resident Bharathanatyam faculty at the Nehru Centre in London. Awards & Honours: Rukmini Devi award (2015).
