Vidya Thirunarayan is an internationally renowned Bharatanatyam dancer, performer, tutor, and choreographer. She trained at the prestigious Kalakshetra School of Fine Arts in Chennai, India. With over 25 years of experience in dance performance, choreography, and training, her work has received support from Arts Council England, and she has toured internationally. Based in Chichester, UK, Vidya Thirunarayan is also a professional potter, and in 2015, she began to uniquely combine her expertise in Bharatanatyam with her skill as a ceramicist in theatrical events, dancing with clay and throwing pots on stage. This innovative approach allows her to tell stories rich with drama and emotion, exploring themes from ancient myth and modern life. She teaches Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music classes to children and adults in Chichester and the surrounding areas. In 2020, she embarked on a doctoral program, seriously immersing herself in the world of dance and clay as a doctoral student. Her work has been presented at academic conferences, exploring the connections between body, dance, and clay.
