Grihalakshmi Soundarapandian is a Bharatanatyam dancer and urban planner based in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. She commenced her training in Bharatanatyam in 2012 with Mandala Arts & Culture and completed her Arangetram (graduation) in 2016 under the tutelage of Jai Govinda. Soundarapandian has performed at various notable events, including New Works Dance Allsorts, Namaste Canada, and lecture demonstrations at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She was also part of "Shyama," a theatrical dance production featuring graduates of the Jai Govinda Dance Academy. Her talent was recognized at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival in 2018, where she secured second place in the Senior Varnam category. In 2019, she participated in exchange studies in Singapore, performing at NUS Arts Out Loud, Sangae Muzhangu, and on Vasantham TV. Grihalakshmi is dedicated to promoting Indian classical dance styles through her role as President of Asta Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Vancouver. Her performances often highlight the Nritta (abstract dance) and Nritya (narrative dance) aspects of Bharatanatyam. Awards & Honours: Second Place, Senior Varnam category (2018).
