🪔 About
Guru Hari Rama Murthy is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, specializing in Kuchipudi. Born in the village of Kuchipudi into a family with a rich lineage of traditional dancers, including Hari Ponnaiah, Hari Chalapathi, Chinta Venkatramaiah, and Chinta Ramamurthy, his path in dance was set from an early age. He commenced his formal dance education at the age of 15, following his schooling. His initial training was received at Siddhendra Yogi Kalapeetham under the guidance of Pasumarthy Krishna Sharma and Chinta Ramamanatham. He further honed his skills under the tutelage of the legendary Padmabhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam at the Kuchipudi Art Academy in Chennai. Guru Hari Rama Murthy also holds Diplomas in Kuchipudi and Yakshaganas from Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. He currently serves as the Principal of the Kuchipudi Kalakshetra in Visakhapatnam, where he is renowned for his rigorous training methods, meticulously preserving Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam's distinctive style. His commitment to discipline and hard work in his students mirrors the dedication he observed in his own guru. Among his notable choreographic works is the acclaimed dance drama “Mohini Bhasmasura,” which bears a close resemblance to Vempati Chinna Satyam's compositions.
