Madho Prasad is a distinguished figure in Indian classical music, renowned for his contributions as a vocalist, harmonium accompanist, and composer within the Kathak dance tradition. Hailing from New Delhi, India, he continues a rich family legacy in vocal music and harmonium, following in the footsteps of his well-known father, Pt. Jwala Prasad, and grandfather, Pt. Shiva Prasad. Endowed with a melodious voice, Madho Prasad has provided vocal and harmonium accompaniment to numerous leading Kathak dancers, both within India and during international performances. Over more than two and a half decades, he has established a unique position for himself through his innovative musical compositions. His creative work spans various genres, from classical to popular and semi-classical, and has been featured in numerous dance ballets, telefilms, and serials. His compositions are highly regarded, described as legendary, and have significantly influenced generations of classical performers. Notably, many of Guru Shovana Narayan's acclaimed choreographies are built upon the foundation of Madho Prasad's musical creations. His enduring musical legacy was honored in a Kathak tribute event, "Continuing Tradition 2025," which celebrated his profound impact on the art form.
