Y. G. Madhuvanthi, born on November 6, 1977, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, is an Indian actress, Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and educationist. She is the daughter of veteran Tamil actor and playwright Y. G. Mahendran and Sudha, and the granddaughter of playwright Y. G. Parthasarathy and influential educationist Dr. Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy (Mrs. Y.G.P.). Madhuvanthi holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai, and a Master's degree in Education. She is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, having received her training under the eminent Padma Bhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Madhuvanthi incorporates elements of theatre, music, and visual communication into her performances and choreography. She has presented thematic productions that blend choreography with multimedia, focusing on cultural narratives such as Tamil heritage. Notably, she choreographed and directed "Tamizh," a mixed-media theatre presentation that premiered at the Music Academy's Margazhi Mahotsav in Chennai in 2009. Her performances have taken her solo across India and internationally to countries including the U.S.A., Canada, U.K., France, and Malaysia. Beyond dance, Madhuvanthi is the Artistic Director of Maham Enterprises, a Chennai-based arts and media company dedicated to promoting various art forms and theatre, particularly for the next generation. She also oversees Maham Parampara, a wing that organizes music festivals for children and an annual show. As an educationist, she co-founded Calibre Academy International School in Chennai with her husband, V. Arun Kumar, under the Calibre Educational Foundation, where she serves as managing director and trustee. The academy emphasizes experiential education, integrating subjects like music, dance, and yoga into its curriculum. She is also a convenor for the State Education Cell, Tamil Nadu. Madhuvanthi debuted as an actress in the Tamil film industry in 2016, appearing in supporting roles in films like "Dharma Durai" and "Kadamban". She is also a theatre director. In her political career, she was appointed as a member of the state executive committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Tamil Nadu unit on July 3, 2020, and is also a member of the party's National General Council, serving as State Secretary of the Intellectual Cell. She was previously married to V. Arun Kumar, with whom she has a son named Rithvik.
