🪔 About
Meera Patel is a Kathak dance artist based in the UK, with her core training rooted in this Indian classical dance form. She received her initial training at the Centre for Indian Classical Dance (CICD) in Leicester. Patel currently trains and teaches at the Pagrav Dance Company (PDC) and holds teaching positions with Sadler's Wells for Family Fridays and Akademi for DanceWell. As a performer, Meera Patel regularly graces the stage with PDC and as an independent artist, presenting her work at various venues across the UK. Her notable performance credits include being a performer in PDC's 'Kattam Katti' and 'Hanuman Tales'. She is also a co-founder of the ReRooted Dance Collective, where she has choreographed and performed in works such as 'Transformation of the Line' and 'Geometer'. Additionally, Patel is a member of Siobhan Davies Dance's Next Artist Collective. Meera Patel is also a choreographer and director. She conceived, directed, and choreographed "Attuning," an immersive dance-theatre experience inspired by the imagined world of Tanmaatra. This work explores elemental states through movement, sound, and tactile interaction, positioning itself at the intersection of South-Asian classical dance and sensory dramaturgy. In May 2025, Patel launched her own dance school, Imperfect Taal, which offers Kathak-based semi-classical dance workshops, aiming to make classical styles accessible and enjoyable.
