Mukesh Gangani is a respected Kathak artist and teacher, hailing from the Jaipur Gharana of Kathakaars. He was initiated into the dance form at an early age, either seven or eight years old, by his father and guru, the internationally renowned Kathak Guru, Late Pandit Parveen Gangani. He also received valuable guidance from his uncle, Pt. Manish Gangani. With 19 years of training, Mukesh Gangani began performing at the age of eight. Throughout his career, Gangani has performed as a soloist both in India and internationally. From 2007 to 2010, he accompanied his father on an ICCR Post to Russia, performing extensively in Moscow and collaborating with the rock band TSVETY. He has worked with esteemed artists such as Padma Bhushan Kumudini Lakhia Ji and Padma Shri Shovana Narayan Ji for five years. Mukesh Gangani is also associated with the Kathak Kendra repertory as a guest dancer and teacher, and has performed in numerous festivals for organizations like the Sangeet Natak Academy. He is recognized for his masculine energy and control on stage, and for his innovative approach to Kathak. He is also a graded artist of Doordarshan. With 11 years of teaching experience as of 2020, Mukesh Gangani heads the Kathak Disha Academy of Music and Dance in New Delhi, an NGO founded by his father. He provides training to all age groups, from beginners to advanced professionals, offering both individual and group classes. The academy also facilitates certification through its affiliation with Prayag Sangeet Samiti. He started offering online Kathak classes in July 2021.
