Nayika Brijlal is a talented and highly experienced Kathak Indian classical dancer and instructor based in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She currently teaches Kathak, Bollywood, and Indian folk dance at the Nateshwar Dance Studio's Ballito branch at FITPOD. Brijlal's journey into dance began at a young age in Cape Town, where she and her twin sister, Yachna, were initially taught by their mother. A pivotal moment occurred at age 11 when she witnessed her first large-scale Indian dance performance, which introduced her to the graceful and intricate form of Kathak. From ages 11 to 18, she dedicated herself to Kathak, Bollywood, and Indian folk dance, completing all her examinations and participating in Cape Town's inaugural Rangmanch Pravesh (Kathak graduation). Following her graduation, she commenced her teaching career at the Nateshwar Dance Academy. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Brijlal is also a qualified mechanical engineer and holds a pilot's license, having once aspired to be an Air Force pilot. She returned to KwaZulu-Natal in 2021 and began teaching at the Ballito branch of Nateshwar Dance Studio at FITPOD in July 2024.
