Priya Joshi, also known as Priya Nimkar Joshi, is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, specializing in Bharatanatyam. Her foundational training in the Pandanallur style was received from Guru Dr. Vasundhara Sreedharan. She further honed her artistry as a disciple of the renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Guru Dr. Sucheta Chapekar. Academically, Priya Joshi holds an MA in Dance from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University, and a Nritya Visharad from Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth. Additionally, she possesses an M.Com. and a Diploma in Journalism from Pune University, showcasing a diverse educational background. With a career spanning over 28 years in dance performance, teaching, choreography, and research, Priya Joshi has made significant contributions to the field. She is the founder director of 'Kalanilayam', a prominent School of Dance operating under the umbrella of the Kalavardhini Charitable Trust in Pune, where she imparts comprehensive training in Bharatanatyam. Her commitment to dance education is further evidenced by her role as an Academic Specialist at FLAME University. She also serves on the Panel of Gurus' at Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University, and the School of Performing Arts at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, demonstrating her influence in academic and institutional dance circles. Priya Joshi is also a member of the 'International Association for Dance Medicine and Science' (IADMS), reflecting her engagement with the scientific and health aspects of dance. Her teaching legacy includes several dedicated students who have pursued Bharatanatyam professionally. Among her documented disciples are Ambaree Rege, who completed her Arangetram in 2011 after 15 years of training under Joshi; Manasi Ghanekar Ganjave, who trained with Joshi for 13 years; Neha Khisti, who performed her Arangetram in 2009 and has been teaching at Kalanilayam for seven years; and Saniya, who also completed her Arangetram in 2011 and has been teaching at Kalanilayam for seven years.
