Priya Kushwaha is a renowned Kathak artist based in the United Kingdom, with her roots in Allahabad, India. Her passion for dance began at a very young age, leading her to perform in school cultural festivals and win numerous district-level dance competitions, including her first solo award at the age of seven. She acknowledges Urmila Sharma as her guru. In 2017, Priya Kushwaha founded Vishwam Kathak Kendra in the UK, an institution dedicated to spreading the joy of Kathak and nurturing professional Kathak dancers. The academy currently trains over 100 students, catering to various skill levels from beginner to advanced. As a performer, Priya Kushwaha has showcased her Kathak artistry on various platforms. In November 2023, she performed a Kathak solo at the "Baithak" classical concert, organized by the PRSSV institute of performing arts and heritage of India. Her students have also performed at events such as one organized by the Mayor of Harrow at the Zoroastrian Centre in Rayners Lane in November 2023. She has also performed at "United in Diversity" events in London, introducing Kathak to new audiences. Awards & Honours: First solo award.
