Sadanand Biswas is an accomplished Indian classical Kathak dancer, guru, and choreographer, born on March 7, 1979, in Durgapur, West Bengal. His journey into the world of classical dance began at an early age, starting his Kathak training at four years and nine months old in 1984. He received formal training in Kathak dance from Shri Nirmal Nag starting in 1988. Additionally, he explored the creative dance style of Rabindra Nritya under the tutelage of Shri Kartik Saha. With over three decades of practice in the art form, Sadanand Biswas has established himself as a Kathak exponent. He is the founder and General Secretary of Kathak Dharohar, an organization he established in 2012. Kathak Dharohar aims to make performing arts accessible to underprivileged communities across India, with centers in Uttarakhand, Delhi, Goa, Pune, Trivandrum, and Visakhapatnam. The organization also provides skill development workshops and vocational training free of cost. Biswas believes in the universal language of music and art to unite people beyond boundaries of race, caste, religion, and gender. His work with Kathak Dharohar reflects this philosophy, focusing on community mobilization and development through cultural projects. As a performer and choreographer, Sadanand Biswas has contributed significantly to the Kathak landscape. He was the concept and choreography lead for "Shankh Naad.... गणतंत्र का अमृत महोत्सव," a grand production celebrating 75 years of the Indian Constitution. He has also been featured on national television, sharing his Kathak journey and insights into his gharana and gurus on the DD Morning Show. He is based primarily in New Delhi, India.
